"For poems are not words after all but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry. Yes indeed."

- Mary Oliver, The Poetry Handbook

Hello & welcome!

I’m Becky, a gardener and artist whose journey has woven together cut flower growing, gardening, garden design, and photographic botanical art. Each of these practices has been driven by an aspiration to make something that touches the human spirit—be it a garden or an artwork. It's an ideal often overshadowed by endless practicalities and the chase of the seasons, but it's the steady intention that guides my work.

The collection of botanical prints you'll find here on my website is the result of many years of growing, cultivating, admiring, and photographing remarkable seasonal flowers. My hope is that these prints offer a moment of delight, bringing something of the quiet beauty of the botanical world into the homes of those who appreciate nature's wonders.

I’ve had some incredible settings in which to work, including serving as a cut flower grower at Chatsworth House in England, and then as resident garden designer at the celebrated Floret Flower Farm in North America.  During this time, after a workday focussed on the practicalities of gardening or designing, I’d head out among the plants to unwind and marvel at everything growing.

Inevitably, I’d leave with arms full of unique flowers, seed heads, berries and foliages from the garden.  In the nearby wild places, I’d gather remarkable leaves, feathers and pine cones that I'd find on the ground whilst walking.  This immersive routine of growing, appreciating, walking and gathering has continued for almost a decade, and I’ve spent (possibly too) many weekends getting lost in these botanical treasures, meticulously arranging and photographing the various elements.   It's a soul-nourishing creative practice, and a medium through which to share beauty and plant knowledge with a wonderful community on instagram, through my newsletter and on my blog.

In addition to my print business, I continue to design gardens for private clients and recently created a public ornamental cutting garden at Raby Castle in County Durham, as part of a broader scheme designed by the renowned Luciano Giubbilei.

One-to-one coaching naturally emerged from the requests I received from gardeners and floral creatives seeking advice. It’s a privilege to help people gain the clarity, confidence, and skills they need to realise their garden dreams and foster a deeper connection with the land they tend. I also run occasional workshops and give talks too.

More by chance than planning, I now live in a small Derbyshire hill village with my beautifully bedraggled dog, Laika. Having lived in towns and cities for most of my life, I truly appreciate being surrounded by such an incredible natural landscape, rich with wildflowers and ancient trees.

That’s a little about me, I hope you enjoy exploring my website! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at hello@beckycrowley.com. I’d love to hear from you.
